Karen Roehl was born in Montreal, Canada, and began her art career as a graphic artist in Denver. She graduated from CU Denver with a BFA and has since become well-known for her abstract expressionism style, often using the horse as her inspiration.
Roehl teaches painting at the Art Students League in Denver and is the Director of Denver’s prestigious Ice Cube Gallery. Roehl received the Coors Western Art Exhibit award for 2015 and 2016 and has been named the 2017 Editor’s Choice for Artist to Watch in the February 2016 publication of Southwest Art magazine. Rohel’s abstract paintings are exhibited in the bustling Santa Fe Arts District located in Denver, Co.
